- Set your home’s thermostat to the a warmer setting, typically 74 – 78 degrees. It can cost you 1-3% more in utility costs for each degree cooler you set your thermostat.
- Schedule Spring Maintenance on your air conditioner or heat pump system. Dirty indoor and outdoor coils contribute to increased energy costs and potential equipment breakdowns.
- Change your air filters regularly, dirty and clogged air filters restrict air flow which causes your system to work harder.
- Close blinds or curtains during the day to save on cooling costs.
- Don’t leave bath fans running, they will pull cool air from the home into unconditioned areas.
- Reduce air infiltration into the home by adding weather stripping and caulking around windows and doors.
